The bedroom is a safe haven, it is your special place where you can escape the madness and take some ‘me time’. Your bedroom should make you feel comfortable it is where you start and end your day so make sure it is a space you love. Here are a few tips when decorating:
Paint you bedroom a colour you enjoy
Just because beige is a calming colour doesn’t mean it should be on your bedroom walls. Paint the walls a colour you enjoy something you like looking at and then complement the colour with others for example Red’s complement Green, Blues Complement Orange, Yellows complement Purple. For example if you love the colour purple then maybe paint a soft lavender and then add yellow display cushions.
Fabrics and Textures
People find it hard to coordinate different fabric patterns successfully so why not just choose one and use it multiple times in different ways. Use the one fabric for your bedding, curtains and even an upholstered chair to finish off the room. If you are worried that this is too much stick with a solid fabric. When choosing the fabric make sure you use soft textures, these soft textures include, silks, cotton and suedes.
Mood Lighting
Lighting can transform a bedroom so by adding a few candles here and there it can really make a bedroom a sanctuary. If you aren’t a candle person why not add dimmer lights, position several dim lamps around the room or even a hang a picture light.
Privacy
When you are in your sanctuary you shouldn’t be worrying if the neighbours can see in so make sure your bedroom design has window treatments that allow for cover at night. This will also keep your oasis personal and cosy.
