When it comes to decorating the kids rooms we can get carried away – well I know I do! Here are 5 quick tips to help you give your little man a great space that he can call his own.
Storage
Boy’s aren’t terribly interested in keeping a tidy room so make it easier with large storage bins, generous and well organised shelving hidden behind doors so you don’t have to see it.
Strong Furniture
Boys will jump off beds and climb over cupboards so you need furniture that’s durable. Sometimes ‘durable’ furniture can come with a big price tag so keep it simple and have a look in the second hand shops you can find some great solid stuff. Also purchase furniture that can be easily touched up.
Playing Space
Boys can be very physical and need lots of floor space to play, you can encourage a fun play space by using bean bags or an interactive table/chalk table. In their room make sure there is a place for sleeping and a place for play, this will help when its bedtime.
Flooring
Ideally a smooth surface works best for boys, something they can easily move their cars, boats and trains around on. If you have carpet, you can purchase rubber tiles for relatively cheap this will give a define area of play.
Walls
Think outside the box when it comes to wall coverings, what about maps? or paint a section with black board paint. If you decide on a set paint colour make sure it is easily cleanable satin and low-sheen acrylics are the best.
